You were working on someone’s flooring when your coworker accidentally pushed a piece in before you were ready. Your fingers were in the way, and you ended up getting them pinched.

By the time you released the flooring, you saw that you had fairly significant lacerations across your fingertips. There was a lot of blood, but the injuries didn’t seem too deep.

You were able to stop the bleeding and complete the project, but you soon realized that this injury wasn’t as simple as it seemed. Within a day or two, you could see swelling and what looked like the start of an infection.

After a workplace injury, you can seek medical attention from your own provider

When you’re hurt at work in Kentucky, you can go to your own doctor for your initial visit. Tell them that you were hurt at work so that they can give you the appropriate medical documents for your employer (or forward them). Your employer may have a list of medical professionals you can see as well, so if you don’t have a primary care physician already, they can help you find someone to see.

Remember to let your employer know about your injury as soon as it happens, or as soon as you realize that it is more severe than you thought. They should be able to help you start the workers’ compensation claim process. If they refuse or your claim is denied, then your attorney can help you take steps to get the benefits that you need and to get compensation for the injuries that you’ve suffered.
